Hello fellow Republicans. I am seeking your vote to become the next Chairman of the Muscogee County Republican Party, (MCRP). In the points below I will explain why I believe a change in leadership would be beneficial to our local party, and why I believe I would be the right person for the job.
Reason # 1 ( Our Reason for Being )
I believe the political climate has changed dramatically enough that we cannot continue running this local party in the same manner as in the past. The Democrat Party has become a far more leftist, progressive and socialist leaning party, especially in following the lead of the Obama Administration and the Democrat led Senate, and until just recently, the House of Representatives.
From what I sense, the MCRP sees itself in some sort of co-existence, or the sharing of local politics with Democrats, and Democrat leaning local non-partisan politicians, such as our newly elected Mayor, who easily won the election, but who is actually politically way to the left of most of her constituents. Her left leaning views and actions should have been exposed to the city by the Republican Party. This sort of subservient co-existence must come to an end. Our party and the ideals we embrace should be the dominant positive political force in Columbus. Not putting up opposing candidates in incumbent Democrat races has to end, and by promoting liberal candidates in local races, we are doing our party, and the community a great disservice.
Our mission should be to recruit, support, and endorse quality candidates to run against all opposing parties, and also to stand in opposition to, and to campaign against incumbents who either don’t listen, or who vote on issues differently than they had originally promised their constituents. Above all our primary goal is to “Win Elections!”
We are the Party that is on right side of issues and the answers. To be a Blue Dog Democrat, or a middle of road Republican, (RINO), is to be on the wrong side of American politics, and history. We must be the party of principal, honesty, integrity, and not politics as usual. Voters are looking for honesty and transparency, and have grown tired of career politicians. Let’s leave the greed, corruption, and bad policies behind closed doors to the Democrats.
The Tea Party ideals which swept new energy into the Republican Party this year are neither right-wing nor extreme. They are main street America ideas and principals that can work, and have worked. Most Americans consider themselves conservatives in recent polls. If this is true and we live in a conservative community why is the local MCRP meekly sharing power with a political side that is actually smaller, and wrong?
The Republican Party needs to embrace the ideas of the Tea Party: Restoration of the Constitution, reigning in and down-sizing the out of control growing Federal Government, fiscal responsibility in spending and debt reduction, the restoration of moral values, and the continual emphasis of individual liberty and free market capitalism.
I am of the firm belief that America needs and wants strong conservative Republican leadership that is best exemplified by the late Ronald Reagan. A belief that America is an exceptional Country, and with common sense leadership there can be, and will be a continued bright future should be emphasized. I believe Ronald Reagan would have embraced the Tea Party principals and ideals as part of his Republican conservative Philosophy. In fact, they were the ideals he espoused. Our Country desperately needs this sort of leadership and spirit at all levels, local, state, and at the national level.
We need to project this energy, and passion for everything that is good about America into our local community through the Republican Party. The other side wants to “Fundamentally Transform America” and we have to stop them at all costs. Our Country and our Children’s future are riding on our actions. We are right and they are wrong. We have over 200 years of unparalleled success on our side. Our Country can continue this unheeded success just as soon as the left will remove their excessive regulations, corruption, cynicism and anarchy. Sure, we have made mistakes, but the world has been a far better place because of America. Our rise to power has increased freedom and prosperity worldwide. The solutions the Democrats offer have never worked anywhere and have ultimately led to oppression, poverty and chaos. History has a way of repeating itself. There is no need to transform anything in the greatest, freest Republic that man has yet created. The protestors who rant against the decadent west and the U.S. in the streets of the world use cell phones, Facebook and Twitter to organize their revolutionary protests, but their lives have all been better than their parents because of the ingenuity and the benefits of free-market capitalism that the United States of America has brought to the rest of the world. We are still the greatest and freest hope for mankind that has ever existed. This flame must not expire. It is our job to convey these ideas locally on the grassroots level in order to be successful.
Reason # 2 ( How I Would Lead the MCRP Differently )
The MCRP should be more visible in the community. We should advertise as much as possible, especially by using formats that are low cost or free, such as Twitter. The Facebook page and the website should be updated and should be used for recruiting, education and information, such as advertising monthly meetings. We represent at least half the citizens of one of the one of the largest cities in Georgia but you have to search hard to find anything about the MCRP. Many, much smaller communities have a much larger presence than we do and you can see the pride they have in their organizations. Under my leadership The MCRP would have increased visibility that we could be proud of.
We need new ideas and new energy incorporated into the MCRP. As I said we should have a large, visible presence in Columbus. We should educate local voters on why we are different, and why we are right. We should influence local politics with our own candidates and we should point out the errors and corruption of our political enemies. Unfortunately I believe we have come to the point that Democrats are no longer just political enemies, but increasingly by their agenda, should be viewed as long term enemies to our Country and our way of life.
The MCRP would have regular, coordinated and well publicized meetings. Are you aware of the fact that not a single business meeting was held in 2010 because there wasn’t a quorum present? One of the first things I would do as chairman would be to propose a change to the by-laws that two or more members present would constitute an official meeting. I would like to see a growing MCRP that would have increasingly large meetings with increased participation and input by all members.
I would also stress a more inclusive membership where everyone would feel welcome. This would definitely change under my leadership. We would open our doors to all Republicans and we would welcome Tea Party Members, Conservative Party Members, Libertarians and Independents. We would even welcome Democrats who want to cross over. We would do everything possible to increase our membership in the community.
The Republican Party voter rolls include many types of voters and we should remember this in our recruiting. We must remember that our enemies the Democrats, and the other assorted leftists, have a membership that ranges from the President, Tycoon George Soros, Wall Street types, blue collar union workers, and the unemployed. They are well organized and varied in their ranks, and we should employ their tactics to our advantage.
If the money is available I believe a physical full time Headquarters and meeting facility would be very beneficial. It would of course give the MCRP an immediate increased visible presence in our community. It would also increase rapport and the flow of information between members, and would be an excellent tool to increase membership. Another great benefit would be to increase the education of issues to our community, which I believe is very important in these changing times when our media is either suppressing or distorting the truth. I believe the U.S. Constitution should be taught and brought to forefront of our education efforts, and the HQ could become this platform. I actually believe in the necessity of all citizens to reacquaint themselves with the document and the reasons pertaining to why it was created. Understanding it will become increasingly vital for our national survival. The Headquarters could also be used for local, State, and National Republican speakers and politicians.
Reason # 3 ( Why You Should Vote For Me )
Because I will offer new leadership that will make the MCRP grow and prosper. I will listen to all your ideas and you will be included in all discussions. Our meetings will be more open, transparent and everyone will be made to feel welcome. I will bring honesty, integrity, pride and visibility back to the MCRP. We will not be hiding out under a rock anymore. We will have increased fundraising and we will increase our support for good, conservative, Republican Candidates who want to serve locally.
We need to change our tactics and I know if we do not change our ways, the Republican Party will in very short order, face an untimely death. We face a large, well organized, and I believe a malignant social and political force, that is intent on taking away our individual freedom and destroying the basic fabric of our Country in the process. We as the local Republican Party are actually the first line of defense against this enemy. It all starts at the local level and that’s the way the Founding Fathers had envisioned it. It is our job to inspire, educate and lead our community in the right, conservative direction and to run our local Republican party in the most effective manner possible. I don’t believe our local party has been run this way or understands this. This is not about a power struggle or matter of control, between our party and the opposition. Again, we are on the right side, but do I believe we are in a serious battle for the future of our Country and we have to be strong and accessible locally. These are serious times, and the people are tired of politics as usual. They are looking for more out of their politicians and their political party. I’m asking for your vote as Chairman so that I can help to restore strong effective leadership into the MCRP and get down to business on our number one job, and that’s “Winning Elections”! With your vote, and your support, we can begin to give the voters of Columbus exactly what they are looking for.
Thank You,
Rick Allen
